Moving on in history we see the Judeo Christian belief of divine law where your entrance into heaven is dependant upon your sinful or saint like nature. In more modern concepts we see good and evil embodying your actions, individuals can have varying qualities of both good and evil and justifying whether that individual sits on either side of the moral compass is up to the society surrounding them. Good and evil today is not longer a black and white concept, there is a general understanding of the right and wrong in society but as individuals we can harbour both qualities. Differing societies and cultures play a huge role in deciding whether actions are good or evil and often we see the actions justified as legal or illegal in society. Though law is another grey area of what is truly right or wrong there are many common wrongs among all societies which would include actions like murder.

Because we see a general consensus that murder is evil among human society could we agree that it is wrong? Yes and no. In many studies one will find a common sense of an impossibility toward achieving true happiness, and in some cases arguing that death itself is achieving happiness because existence in this world is suffering. Perhaps because death is the only way to achieve happiness then killing another individual would be granting them happiness. Concepts of good and evil are maintained through relative nature because it is impossible to justify something as truly good or evil. Another argument would be that from a survival standpoint we maintain a moral compass surrounding life or death.

Life being good as we keep surviving and death being bad because we are no long living. This argument can also be maintained in communities where more individuals in my community or village translates to a larger sense of survival, stronger in numbers, a larger amount of goods acquired and more potential for growth in population. In that sense we can achieve a basic moral compass with many things being considered good or evil, for example: murder, theft and vandalism could all easily be considered evil without a need for justification and charity, aid and respect being good qualities that can be the goal to achieving a utopian society, or at least in an early form of society. Along with technological advances we see more complex moral issues arising, one of the more popular ones being euthanasia, the practice of intentionally ending a life most commonly due to suffering.

In many cultures we see individuals being morally obligated to keep anyone alive as long as possible, in Judaism someone who is brain dead but has a functioning body regardless of cognition is still considered living. Another common issue found is surrounding abortion, do we value the life of an unborn fetus more than an already born child? Is it right or wrong to abort? These questions also surround a larger question of does the individual carrying the baby have the right to make that decision. It is a question debated by many, often in many religious views we see that aborting a fetus is equal to murder, and in other views, the fact that the fetus hold no cognitive sense to this world means that they not valued as high as a born human life.

The general consensus should be left up to the individual carrying the infant but the argument will not stop. Perhaps good and evil will one day be justified throughout the world but we still have an endless amount of complex situations where there is rarely a right answer. Good and Evil for now will be maintained as a relative concept as cultures, religion and society all live by their moral compasses. Remember: This is just a sample from a fellow student. Starting from 3 hours delivery. Defying the existence of good and evil continues to be widely debated in the field of philosophy of religion, specifically when debating the moral capabilities of God.

The existence of evil and suffering in the world poses [ These texts build characters specifically for viewers and readers to relate to and favor. Assuming that any human acts "good", we give him a positive moral evaluation, and considering it "evil", "bad" - negative. The statement that the notion Good and Evil can be consistent is wrong, because there are a lot of cultures where these notions are absolutely opposite. The dichotomy of "good" and "evil" contained in the system of values, is a "perfect" character, in the sense that people's actions can rarely correspond to the ideal of good or evil ideal, and often only compared with those ideals and get some public appreciation.

As already mentioned, all existing cultures have similar ideas about "good" and "evil" that is, their value systems are an essential part of the total. It can be assumed that this common part refers specifically to "the unconscious conscience", produced in early childhood and is directly related to the common to all men instincts. Anyway, this part contains general, as we have seen, "tribal morality. In some cultures, aggressiveness is more appreciated, in others - gentleness; in some — militancy, in the other - hard work. There is no general pattern for good and evil FENCHEL However, Chaucer in "The Canterbury Tales" opposes to each other images of characters — the Knight and the Pardoner, as the Good is opposed to the Evil.

The Good is represented by the Knight. Critics consider the Knight as the ideal figure of Good represented by Chaucer along with the Monks and the Plowman. A central feature is a worthy knight: "a worthy man" "honorable man" , "ful worthy was he in his lordes werre" "he did not disgrace with his Worthy the knight family" , "and evere honoured for his worthynesse" "recognized all his valor in battle " ," this ilke worthy knyght " " this worthy knight " ," he were worthy " " he was worthy ". At the lexical level, it should be noted a large number of epithets representing the key characteristics of the character: "worthy" "worthy" , "wys" "smart" , "verrey" true "true" , "parfit" perfect "flawless" , "gentil" "noble" , "honoured" "honored".

Repeatedly emphasized generosity and worthy of the Knight: "loved chivalerie, trouthe, fredom, honour, curteisie" "he loved honor, courtesy and freedom" , "honoured for his worthynesse" "honor for valor" , "he no vileynye ne sayde " " he did not curse his mouth with abuse". Everything that surrounds the Knight, that somehow relates to his image, is good, worthy and noble, has a grandeur: "at many a noble armee hadde he be", "in the Grete see" "the Great Sea" , "hadde been also somtyme with the Lord of Palatye" "He also visited with Lord of the Chamber" "EChaucer. Chaucer seems to utilize the "General Prologue" to describe the different pilgrims, not so that the audience can get a sense of what the character is like, but to give us the character's flaws. The image of the Knight, who is considered the ideal of Good, has some shortcomings, and thus, the reader gets some attitude that in subsequent portraits descriptions will meet such departures from the idealization of certain images.

But, nevertheless, it should be noted that Chaucer talks quite quietly and casually about the shortcomings of the Knight, he openly mocks them and even sarcastic, while presenting the other pilgrims. The Knight and the Plowman, with regard to moral qualities, are at opposite poles, they represent good and evil, but with a twist Eyler. Two images shown in contradistinction, however, have certain similarities: both the Knight, and the Plowman are called "gentil" and the "noble". But apart from these epithets, they do not have more in common - two characters are completely different. The context of the two epithets involves the formation of completely different images of the two characters. The Knight is named as a true, worthy knight - "verray, parfit gentil knyght" "EChaucer.

Chaucer does not contrast the Plowman as a complete evil: all his characters are either good, but with several shortcomings, or bad evil , but again, it is not completely bad. In real life there are both good and evil people, they do both good and bad deeds. The notion that there is there is a struggle between the "forces of good" and "evil forces" in the world and in man is one of the fundamental ideas that permeates the entire history of culture. Chaucer, with all the softness of his relations even to perverse people, creates a clear picture: immorality is always immoral, virtue is always virtue. The reader cannot doubt that some actions of the characters are good, the others stand for evil, in this case the nature of the characters may begin some mental movement, they change, but the moral core specified by the author is always clear.

His stories are clear with the moral burden, even when subjects are taken from fabliaux when they are banal - the author makes some conclusions, distinguishing the dichotomy of Good and Evil. The world of today is a very delicate place where good and evil are constantly present creating choices and differentiating between individuals. The notion that there are no bad or evil people is true because in reality no one desires or plans to be evil there are only those who are lost in the search for good. Every person living on the planet is faced with a personal choice of how to attend to the matters at hand. The circumstances and the environment dictate a choice of an individual. Everybody is born inherently a good person but the imperfect and uneven surroundings create a difference between those with the ability to take on the hardships and stay true to themselves and those without a chance to support their good intentions.

The real issue at hand is that no one is able to control the time and place they grow up in. When a person is born they are influenced by their family, friends, and society. An individual goes through stages of development in education, work, and life that shape the attitude and behavior. The raising of a child is a very delicate matter and for a long time, it has been speculated what exactly makes a person the way they are. Psychologists have had a continuous argument if it is nature or nurture that makes up a human being and the common belief has emerged that both take part in the formation of an individual. The fact that the world has not become fully evil proves the point that there are more good people than bad. This is a natural balance that is not controlled by humans but by the nature of existence of any life.

For a very long time, there has been a Good Samaritan act that shows how a caring and kind person is not able to ignorantly pass by someone who needs help. Kindness is sometimes based on previous experiences where a particular person was helped and they have remembered that time and feel the need to return the favor. Unfortunately, there are often conditions in the world where a person has to grow up in a very limited and harsh environment. If from the very birth a person has to struggle and fight for their own survival they are almost forced to commit bad deeds. Very often an individual simply has no opportunity to let their good side and kindness emerge.

Throughout history, there have been instances where people were faced with a crucial decision of what path to choose, either the path of evil, which sometimes delivers success faster and easier, or the path of goodness, which can be equally as fulfilling but very often requires a degree of patience, belief and strength. An argument of whether to choose kindness or the opposite is really nonexistent because there are numerous examples in history that demonstrate how good deeds are rewarded and return tenfold.

Human civilization is considered to be a young and developing species that have much to learn yet but the idea that a positive and loving attitude brings more goodness and evil only creates evil is true and is widely supported by the knowing population.
